She Is Passionate About Food

Rodríguez loves good food—but admits she doesn't usually cook. "I love paella, Spanish omelet, croquettes, I really like sausages with wine, meatballs, bean stew, chorizo sausage," she says. "I remember once asking for a ham sandwich during a photo shoot before a fashion show and saying, 'Don't make me do this when I'm hungry' because when I get hungry the truth is that I can be a bit unbearable. Life without food is a bit senseless to me. It's not normal to ask for ham sandwiches before doing this sort of event and the response I got when I requested one, was 'I like people who eat, it means they can be trusted' and that's what I feel, that when people relax and eat, I think 'Wow, they like being with me!'"

Eating Like An Athlete

Rodríguez's husband Christian Ronaldo's former live-in chef opened up about cooking for the family. "There are no expensive foods," chef Giorgio Barone tells the Sunday Mirror. "But healthy foods. I use organic and natural foods – fish, chicken, veal, eggs, avocado, coconut oil and black rice. You have to take care of your body as if taking care of a Ferrari…  I cook using coconut oil. It is also important to drink plenty of water – but purified. And drink a lot. Of course, it's all combined with hard training. But rest is as fundamental as training and nutrition – including in the afternoon. And eating early in the evening, not late."

Rodríguez loves to work out with her husband in their fully-equipped home gym. Working out with a partner or a group can make a positive impact on your workouts, experts say. "Group settings can lead to a positive competitiveness. For instance, wanting to keep up with those around you can make you push yourself harder than you would on your own," says certified exercise physiologist John Ford. "Seeing what others are capable of doing can inspire you to do more. I've personally had this experience: Watching others made me realize I had put some mental barriers up to pushing harder or trying different exercises/routines."

She's a Yogi

Rodríguez is a devotee of yoga, practicing Bikram yoga as part of her healthy lifestyle. "I tell first-time students at the end of class that they have to come back soon because the second class is the fun class," says Bikram yoga teacher Kristin Bergman. "At least once a day, someone new to this yoga will tell me, 'You know, I didn't believe you, but my second class was great!' Come into the space ready to learn and absorb new material. And don't take yourself too seriously, folks — it's just yoga!"

Ronaldo sticks to a strict diet while training, but when he's out of town, Rodríguez enjoys some treats with the kids. "We tend to eat the same because we always eat together," she tells InStyle. "But if he's with the team or traveling to an away match, me and the kids spoil ourselves. We ask for pizzas for example. Or we stuff ourselves with popcorn."
